My One Wish

As I prepare for my journey to South Korea, there are lists and lists of things that must be done.

Documentation- Right now I need to obtain my visa. First, acquire background check. Get it notarized. Get apostille certificate. Wait, wait, wait. Send it and all those other pieces of paper to the Koreans. Hooray, visa. I hope it all works out in a timely manner.

Things to "Figure Out"- How, when, and where do I turn my precious USD into beautiful, beautiful won? What equipment must I purchase to ensure that my laptop does not explode when I plug it into a Korean outlet? What about packing? How much can I bring and what to bring? Will I need to open a bank account in Incheon? Do they sell Samuel Adams in Korea? Blah, blah, boring.

Learning how to not act like an asswipe (or, a piece of toilet paper, if you prefer)- How do I not offend the Koreans or decent people in general when I am abroad? This is hard enough in my own native land. Surely, this will be my greatest challenge.

However, with all of these matters constantly pressing upon my mind, I have one wish. One ultimate wish that is important to my happiness in Korea.

My wish is to have room for my new lava lamp in my suitcase. I just received this lamp for Christmas and to just leave it to collect dust for a year would be a waste.

A tragic waste.
